  • OK AG - I would like to know where & when the LDD/LDT designation "differential" originated?

The Timmons Group storyline on Autodesk's Land Desktop Customer Stories uses "LDT", while you use the "LDD" TLA - ?

And please don't get it in your noggin' that I'm in any way "upbraiding" you with this.

I'm just looking for the "record data" - from my years performing Consultants Map Checking whilst in San Diego during the Eighties. ;-)

  • Great catch! I can't remember the year, but I think it was changed with R3. Essentially what happened is that we needed to align the name of Land with the other Autodesk desktop apps. We had Mechanical Desktop, Architectural Desktop, and then we had Land Development Desktop (note the extra word development). So in order to be consistent with the names for the desktops, we removed the "development" to make it just Land Desktop, thus LDT. Note that all this TLA stuff isn't "official" it's just what most users shorten the name too.

    Hope that helps.

  • All,

I'm working on more posts, but unfortunately we are experiencing some publishing issues on my end. I hope to have a couple more up really soon.
